These 24-bed Cardiovascular Telemetry Units specialize in post-open heart, surgical, and ventricular assist device patients. The units are fast-paced and provide excellent opportunities in nursing growth and development with the ability to care for patients undergoing innovative procedures. Patient population includes post heart surgery patients such as: • Coronary artery bypass surgery • Minimally invasive and robotic heart surgery • Ventricular assist devices • Valve replacement or repair • Other procedures, such as maze procedure, endarterectomy, aneurysm repair Nursing on these units provide: • Patient education - addressing the unique discharge needs for this specific patient population • Specialized teams to provide optimal delivery of care • Opportunities for community involvement related to education and training A caregiver in this position works nights, from 7:00pm—7:30am.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within new hiring period
• Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered

Nice To Haves

• State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA)

Responsibilities

• Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN.
• Patient care may include vital signs, weight, assisting patients with personal care and activities of daily living, patient transfers/transport, pulse oximetry, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices and removing urinary Foley catheter.
• Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN.
• Assist with keeping patients’ rooms clean and orderly.
