Medina Hospital's 3 South nursing unit is a 32-bed unit that specializes in general medical surgical care for adult and geriatric patients with an emphasis on observation. 3 South delivers care to a variety of other conditions including pneumonia, diabetes, sepsis, GI bleed, cellulitis, COPD exacerbation, various cancers, kidney stones, and bowel obstructions. This unit also cares for, but is not limited to, patients undergoing hysterectomies, thyroidectomies, colon resections and appendectomies. As a PCNA on this team, you will coordinate with fellow caregivers to create a welcoming, healing and warm environment for patients. A caregiver in this role works nights from 7:00 p.m. - 7:30 a.m. with weekend and holiday requirements.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or must obtain during your new hire period
  • Nursing students: required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) prior to hire
  • Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered
  • Proficient in applied mathematics & reading comprehension at an eighth-grade level

  • State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA)

Responsibilities

  • Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN. Patient care may include vital signs, weight, assisting patients with personal care and activities of daily living, patient transfers/transport, pulse oximetry, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices and removing urinary Foley catheter.
  • Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN.
  • Assist with keeping patients' rooms clean and orderly.
