The M63 Nursing Unit on Cleveland Clinic’s Main Campus is a unit specializing in the care of patients undergoing bariatric surgery. For the purpose of weight-loss, procedures commonly performed include roux-en-y gastric bypass, gastric banding and sleeve gastrectomy. Routine postoperative telemetry monitoring is also available for high-risk patients. A caregiver in this position works a 6-week day/night shift rotation working either 7:00 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. or 7:00 p.m. - 7:30 a.m.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or AMerican Red Cross (within new hiring period)
  • Nursing students required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) prior to hire
  • Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered

Nice To Haves

  • State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA)

Responsibilities

  • Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN.
  • Patient care may include vital signs, weight, assisting patients with personal care and activities of daily living, patient transfers/transport, pulse oximetry, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices and removing urinary Foley catheter.
  • Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN.
  • Assist with keeping patients’ rooms clean and orderly.
