Working under the direction of licensed personnel, assists patients with activities of daily living tasks such as bathing, dressing, and eating. Also assists with taking patients' temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent required unless candidate holds a nursing assistant certification.
  • Recent experience and/or training in clinical patient care.
  • Must demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills with the English language.
  • Must demonstrate basic skills in math and computer science.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to perform, modify, and record all physical therapy skills with relevance to appropriate thoroughness and sequencing.
  • Healthcare Provider CPR certification required.
  • Knowledge of DPH/OEMS regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • Enrollment in a Nursing, Pre-Med, or Physician Assistant (PA) undergraduate program, with a minimum of one semester of completed patient care rotations at the time of hire.
  • Possession of a valid license, certification, or enrollment as a student in a Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, Mental Health Technician, or EMT-accredited program at the time of hire. For Spaulding Nursing & Therapy Center, Brighton, certification as a Nursing Assistant at time of hire or completion of a nursing assistant training program and certified within 120 days of employment and must remain active thereafter. Nursing students currently enrolled in a formal nursing program who have successfully completed at leastone clinical rotation can remain employed for 120 days or longer if become certified.

Responsibilities

  • Performs vital signs, weights/heights, intakes, and outputs with accuracy and within established time frame and/or as requested.
  • Completes all documentation in the medical record as required.
  • Interacts with patients and their families effectively.
  • Helps patients with a number of basic hygiene tasks. This may include bathing and dressing patients, helping them use the toilet if needed, and feeding them.
  • Assist with helping patients turn and reposition themselves in bed as needed and help them move between the bed and a wheelchair if they use one.
  • Listens to any health concerns patients may have and report those concerns to the nurses.
