Unit Description It is the goal of the Nursing Personnel Pool department to assist with staffing needs throughout the hospital by providing supplemental Registered Nurses, Nurse Techs, Nurse Aides or Certified Nursing Assistants as requested by the nursing units. The Nursing Personnel Pool department assists with staffing licensed and non-licensed staff for Critical Care and Med-Surg departments Patient populations differ based on area staffed and the clinical clusters include: Med-Surg RN: 3E, 3W, GT/SCU, 4E, 4W, Cardiac ICCU, 5W, Med-Surg ICCU, SWCC, OPS, and Endoscopy Critical Care RN: MICU, TSICU, BICU, CVICU, Neuro ICU, COPS, Endoscopy, SWCC, EC and PACU. Non-licensed staff: are assigned to nursing units throughout the hospital according to established clinical competency and identified needs. PCAs are responsible for providing basic patient care under the supervision of a nurse. The duties generally include observing patients, recording vital signs, performing EKGs, drawing labs, non-sterile dressing changes, removing IVs, removing foley catheters, and reporting changes in patient conditions.
