Job Overview Title: Patient Care Assistant II (CNA, nights) Department: Inpatient Services Location: Portland, OR Job Summary: Shriners Children's Portland is seeking an CNA/Patient Care Assistant II (night shift) to join our team! This position provides high quality, comprehensive and family-centered care to our patients and assistance to professional staff in completion of patient-related tasks which include, but are not limited to assisting patients with ADL’s, post-op ambulation and maintaining a safe and clean environment.

Requirements

  • Current Certified Nursing Assistant Certification
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers
  • Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and assessment skills necessary to communicate, educate, and provide a therapeutic and safe environment for the specific developmental age groups served between birth and 21 years of age
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively to assure completion of patient care activities
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in pediatrics/orthopedics
  • Bilingual English/Spanish
  • Two years of hospital experience

Responsibilities

  • The Patient Care Assistant (CNA) assists in the delivery of patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
  • The CNA provides direct patient care and performs routine tasks as assigned.
  • Must consistently demonstrate caring and appropriate behavior when interacting with patients and families.
  • Assists with the planning and provision of structured, age appropriate activities for patients under the guidance or direction of a Child Life Therapist.
  • Monitors children’s activities and maintains a safe physical and psychosocial environment for children.
