The Cancer Center Infusion Center provides care to adult and pediatric patients with non-cancerous, hematology and/or oncology conditions. Chemotherapy administration and practices are followed using ONS guidelines and institutional policies and procedures. Protocol participation is also available. Therapies include but are not limited to: chemotherapy via ambulatory infusion pump, intravenous, intrathecal, IM or SQ route, therapeutic phlebotomy, administration of blood and blood products, anti-emetic therapy, IV immunotherapy and IV hydration. A Patient Care Assistant (PCA) is a Nurse aide who has had additional training in Phlebotomy, EKG’s, non-sterile dressing changes, and various other patient care activities that may be delegated or assigned by a licensed nurse for individual patients as determined appropriate by the nurse. Refer to Nursing Administration Policy 131.0 for training and competency requirements. A Patient Care Technician (PCT) who has successfully completed an external PCT course and is certified.
