About The Position

The Patient Benefits Coordinator ensures that every child at Bethany Children’s Hospital receives timely, uninterrupted care by removing financial and administrative barriers that could delay treatment. Bethany Children’s Health Center (formerly The Children’s Center Rehabilitation Hospital) located in Bethany, Oklahoma is an innovative leader in the field of pediatric rehabilitation and 24-hour complex care. The ACHC accredited hospital offers inpatient and outpatient services for children (ages 0-21) and is the only inpatient pediatric rehabilitation facility in Oklahoma. Our CARF accredited multidisciplinary team works with patients and their families to maximize the patient’s physical and cognitive potential, and ensure the family has the training and resources needed for a smooth transition from hospital to home. Under the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Use and Patient Protection Act (OMMA), a safety sensitive position is defined as any job that includes tasks or duties that the employer believes could affect the safety and health of the employee performing the task or others. This statute allows Bethany Children’s Health Center to refuse to hire an applicant or discharge an employee in a safety-sensitive position, who tests positive for marijuana even if the applicant or employee holds a valid Oklahoma medical marijuana license.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent (Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred.)
• Minimum 1 year of experience in hospital or clinic registration, insurance verification or authorizations, or case management support.

Responsibilities

• Verify and obtain insurance coverage and benefits via insurance company website, insurance eligibility programs or by telephone for all patients registered for inpatient services for all payer types. Obtain pre-authorizations and continued stay authorizations for timely and accurate reimbursement.
• Obtain and document prior authorizations for external imaging procedures.
• Liaise with insurance companies to resolve authorization issues, denials, or coverage clarifications.
• Maintain detailed documentation in the EHR and payer portals.
• Communicate with families regarding benefit coverage and authorization status as appropriate.
• Report monthly metrics (authorization volume, turnaround, denial trends) to leadership.
• Collaborate with Registration, Case Management, Billing, and Inpatient and Outpatient teams to ensure compliance and continuity.
• Other duties as assigned.
