About The Position

Job Duties: Acts to promote resolution of complaints Acts on behalf of the recipient of mental health services to obtain remedies for apparent violations, and to safeguard the rights guaranteed by the Mental Health Code. Ensures compliance with the Michigan Mental Health Code Obtain petition and certifications for Judicial Process Maintenance of Court Docket'distribution and updates Participate and attend deferral meetings, appropriate follow up, as needed Attends conferences, off-site meetings, when needed Schedule transportation for patients, when needed Mails or returns items left by discharged patients to their home or next of kin Prepares written inventory of all unclaimed items other duties as assigned KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCES REQUIRED: A Bachelor's degree in a human services field, management, public administration, social science, or law from an accredited college. A minimum of one year's professional experience in investigation and advocacy within a private or public human services agency (or comparable experience) desired Working knowledge of the Mental Health Code and the ability to interpret and apply statutes, rules, policies, and procedures, highly desired Experience in human services, psychiatric hospital, or community mental health preferred. Two to three years experience as Mental Health Associate and or CENA, strongly desired. Ability to work with all patient populations as demonstrated through educational accomplishment or work experience. Must have solid computer skills, be organized, and pay attention to detail Must have impeccable customer service skills with the ability to multi-task Knowledge of patient rights and JCAHO standards, a plus Must be responsible, trustworthy and practice good communication skills, both verbal and written

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in a human services field, management, public administration, social science, or law from an accredited college.
