About The Position

Accurately gathers information from patients admitted to the hospital pertaining to that patient’s finances. This includes but is not limited to the behavioral health unit. Accurately updates patient information such as insurance information and/or mailing addresses etc. Determines and documents accounts if a patient qualifies for NRMC’s financial assistance program. Monitors un-paid accounts and marks them for bad debt. Reaches out to patients to offer a financial aid packet. Organizes and maintains accurate records of financial aide packets. Monitors patient accounts who have filed for bankruptcy and determines if a claim needs filed. Establishes reoccurring payments for patients. Identifies accounts of deceased individuals and determines if a probate can/should be filed. Maintains patient confidentiality.

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all levels.
  • Ability to utilize best practice and procedures to assist in the care and wellbeing of patients served.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Requires standing, sitting or walking for up to 8 hours or longer per day.
  • The ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Must adhere to the NRMC appearance and attire policy.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of experience.
  • Some knowledge of healthcare billing.
  • Previous experience with bankruptcy/probate.
  • Previous cashier experience.
