About The Position

The Patient Access Technician (PAT) at MultiCare is an exciting opportunity responsible for ensuring accurate patient admission and registration. This intermediate-level clerical position allows for the application of professional service-orientation, good judgment, and independent thinking in daily work functions. The role is a .75 FTE with day shifts scheduled for 10 hours.

Requirements

Graduate of a health vocational program such as Patient Access, Medical Assistance Medical Billing & Insurance
One (1) year of experience performing any combination of admitting, Health Unit Coordinator, patient registration, customer service or billing duties required

Responsibilities

Assure complete and accurate patient admissions/registrations according to organization policy and procedures and regulatory requirements
Obtain inpatient bed assignments and processes inpatient admission, including arm banding, addressograph plate, and completion of necessary forms
Pre-admit all scheduled inpatient, outpatients and ambulatory patients to facilitate a smooth and speedy admission/registration process
Obtain direct admit information and enter a reservation in the computer system in order to notify other areas
Complete comprehensive bedside or telephone interviews with the patient, relative, or their representative to obtain pertinent demographic insurance and/or third-party liability information
Perform eligibility verification and resolves any discrepancies, determine the need for financial assistance recommendation and application, referring to the Financial Counselor where necessary
