The Patient Access Technician (PAT) is an exciting opportunity at MultiCare, responsible for ensuring accurate patient admission and registration. This intermediate-level clerical position will allow you to apply your professional service-orientation, good judgment and independent thinking in your daily work functions. Requirements

Graduate of a health vocational program such as Patient Access, Medical Assistance Medical Billing & Insurance OR One (1) year of experience performing any combination of admitting, Health Unit Coordinator, patient registration, customer service or billing duties required

Nice To Haves

Healthcare setting preferred (for the one year of experience)

Responsibilities

Assure complete and accurate patient admissions/registrations according to organization policy and procedures and regulatory requirements
Obtain inpatient bed assignments and processes inpatient admission, including arm banding, addressograph plate, and completion of necessary forms
Pre-admit all scheduled inpatient, outpatients and ambulatory patients to facilitate a smooth and speedy admission/registration process
Obtain direct admit information and enter a reservation in the computer system in order to notify other areas
Complete comprehensive bedside or telephone interviews with the patient, relative, or their representative to obtain pertinent demographic insurance and/or third-party liability information
Perform eligibility verification and resolves any discrepancies, determine the need for financial assistance recommendation and application, referring to the Financial Counselor where necessary
