Job Title: Patient Access Tech Cost Center: GPPN Registration Job Description: The Patient Registrar is responsible for interviewing the patient to collect required registration data and entering patient information into Hospital Information System. Requirements

  • Must be at least 17 years old and currently enrolled in high school or an equivalent educational program
  • Ability to interpret insurance information and insurance cards
  • Demonstrates proper use of software applications to carry out duties. This would include the chart repository, and order repository.
  • Ability to manage downtime procedures and re-initiation of Hospital Information System and Document Imaging System.
  • Ability to check patient insurance eligibility, though websites.
  • Ability to complete a patient financial screening, to facilitate patient's needs, and financial reimbursement.
  • Ability to work in all registration areas if needed.

Responsibilities

  • Interviewing the patient to collect required registration data
  • Entering patient information into Hospital Information System
  • Obtaining required signatures for hospital consents, HIPAA and Medicare documents
  • Answering telephone
  • Updating computer records
  • Directing patients as appropriate
  • Maintaining a thorough understanding of the Registration modules in the Hospital Information System and Document Imaging System in order to pre-register and register patients and well as being able to correct or update database to reflect changes in patient status, patient transfer, newborn admissions, and discharges
  • Maintaining a minimum accuracy rate of at least 99% after six months of employment
  • Interpreting insurance information and insurance cards
  • Demonstrating proper use of software applications to carry out duties, including the chart repository and order repository
  • Managing downtime procedures and re-initiation of Hospital Information System and Document Imaging System
  • Checking patient insurance eligibility through websites
  • Completing a patient financial screening to facilitate patient's needs and financial reimbursement
  • Working in all registration areas if needed
