About The Position

Patient Access Specialist Lead Responsibilities: A Patient Access Specialist serves as the first point of contact for Froedtert South. The position is accountable for appointment scheduling, patient check-in, registration, coverage management, patient portal sign-up, patient message collection and routing, departmental support, prior authorization and WQ (work queue) management. The Department Lead is responsible for supervising daily operations of department, staff scheduling, performance improvement projects, orientating new staff and acts as liaison to other departments. Schedules, reschedules and cancels patient appointments Supervises daily operations Facilitates staff scheduling Assists with completion of payroll for all assigned staff Identifies and assists with performance improvements projects Setting an example for all staff as team leader, exhibits good communication skills and positive attitude at all times Orientates new staff, assuring department policies/procedures are followed Organizes and assigns staff workload, monitors performance, participates in staff performance appraisals and disciplinary process Facilitates maintenance and repair of all equipment and ensures adequate departmental supplies Acts as a liaison with other departments and physician offices, ensuring all patient issues are resolved Proficient use of healthcare software utilizing established

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or (GED)
  • 6 months – 1 year
  • Performs all job functions of Patient Access Specialist
  • Excellent computer and customer services skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology; ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS codes and use.
  • Familiarity with internet, email and Microsoft office.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Demonstrates ability to efficiently organize work, while maintaining a high level of accuracy and productivity
  • Experience in patient registration, insurance verification and health insurance plans.

Nice To Haves

  • Formal education beyond high school in Business or Healthcare or equivalent experience preferred.
