Job Overview The Patient Access Representative greets, directs, checks in and registers patients; enters, updates and verifies pt. insurance information. Assembles chart forms; updates ID sheet, etc. Secures signatures on release of information, required treatment and billing authorization and other legal documents as necessary. Scans documents in EMR. Assists in insurance authorization process and financial counseling functions.

Requirements

  • 2 years experience of patient access and insurance verification
  • Computer applications experience as well as typing and general office skills
  • Clerical experience with the ability to coordinate, manage and follow-up
  • High School Diploma/GED

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's Degree in related field
  • Epic EMR experience

Responsibilities

  • Greets and accurately directs patients/families presenting for appointments and treatment.
  • Accurately enters/updates patient information into computer system according to current applicable procedure at the time of registration.
  • Accurately enters and updates patient’s insurance information in computer system according to current applicable procedure at the time of registration.
  • Performs check-in of patients who arrive for scheduled appointments or admissions.
  • Accurately prepare and secure signatures on required treatment and billing authorization forms. Facilitate and assist with other legal documents as necessary according to current procedure/guidelines.
  • Accurately scan necessary documents into Epic EMR to assist with the revenue collection process. Ensure image available for future reference in systems.
  • Verifies insurance coverage for all patients receiving services at the hospital. Updates registration encounters to reflect contact information.
  • Assists as needed with financial counseling functions of Shriners Hospital according to current applicable procedure/guidelines.
