Job Overview The Patient Access Representative greets, directs, checks in and registers patients; enters, updates and verifies pt. insurance information. Schedules outside services; assembles chart forms; updates ID sheet, etc. Secures signatures on release of information, required treatment and billing authorization and other legal documents as necessary. Scans documents in EMR, maintains incomplete Verification Work-list in EMR. Assists in insurance authorization process and financial counseling functions. Shriners Children's – Portland is seeking a PRN Patient Access Representative to specialize in the registration process.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 2 Years Patient Access, insurance verification
  • 2 Years Computer applications, typing, general office skills
  • 2 Years Clerical experience with the ability to coordinate, manage, and follow-up

Responsibilities

  • Registration/check-in of patients for hospital and clinic appointments
  • Accurately maintain patient data, insurance information, and other pertinent information
  • Obtain necessary authorization forms and accurately document information in computer
  • Perform insurance verification functions, for both commercial and multi-state Medicaid plans
  • Assist in the management of work-lists related to referrals, denials, and authorization requirements
  • Assist with financial counseling functions for Uninsured patients
  • Support new patient intake and patient scheduling functions as needed
  • Provide superior customer service to patients, families, visitors, and staff
