Patient Access Representatives deliver what matters most to our patients and their families, ensure exceptional experiences and thrive on making positive impacts in the community. As a Patient Access Representative, you will pre-register and greet patients as well as verify information and collect copays. You are the first person the patient will interact with once they are through security, and you will set the tone for how the visit goes. A caregiver in this role works evenings from 3:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m. with weekend and holiday requirements. A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Requirements

  • High School Diploma OR GED and two years of experience in a customer-facing role with in person or phone contact OR an Associate’s Degree and one year of experience OR a Bachelor’s Degree
  • Knowledge of medical terminology OR completion of course within year of hire
  • Basic PC software application knowledge and ability to use multiple data systems
  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
  • Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods.
  • Ability to work with physical records or operate a computer or other office equipment.
  • In some locations, ability to travel throughout the hospital system.
  • In some locations ability to move up to 25 lbs.
  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform registration and obtain information about demographics, insurance, medical and financial.
  • Crosstrain to staff all areas of patient access, such as front desk, admitting office, ED and cash register.
  • Function as a Super User and act as a resource for training of new caregivers.
  • Provide registration and cash collection access in Epic.
