FTE: 1.0, Shift: Evening, Schedule: 8 hour shifts, Rotating weekends Position Summary Job Profile Summary With continual and direct patient contact, the Patient Access Representative I performs diversified tasks and duties associated with registrations in the Emergency Department. Collects demographics, obtains signatures, and basic insurance information.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required.

Nice To Haves

  • Hospital patient access, medical billing, or office administrative experience preferred.
  • Certified Revenue Cycle Specialist (CRCS) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Admit/register patients in a timely and efficient manner using multiple methods of communications (bedside, in-person, over the phone, etc.). Obtain all required admission/registration information and ensures an accurate medical record is created. Promote accurate billing information.
  • Demonstrates exceptional customer service and interacts effectively with all patients, customers, and members of the health care team providing knowledgeable and professional communication.
  • Consistently complies with state and federal regulations; obtain appropriate signatures, completes all required forms, and provide patient information as required.
  • Collects co-pay, deductibles, deposits and payments due and/or arranges for payment plans with each patient. Reviews and discusses all patient financial responsibility at the appropriate time in the admission/registration process.
  • Communicates and coordinates with all departments, medical offices, healthcare facilities and all other entities for patient services and information.
  • Completes forms and applications. Documents accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Actively attends department staff meetings and required educational opportunities.
  • Meets Quality Assurance benchmarks, completes daily work list, self corrects errors, participates in audits and performance improvement projects.
  • May cross-train in other areas within the department when necessary as well as perform other duties as assigned.

  • The pay scale is $21.29 - $29.69 USD.
  • However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education.
  • If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant’s years of experience align.
