About The Position

Description Responsible for receiving and sorting patient specimens and maintaining and recording patient data onto the laboratory computer. Ensures and communicates with patients and provides comprehensive training. Works with professional and clinical staff to resolve specimen handling issues, such as incorrectly submitted specimens for minimizing patient risk. Principal Accountabilities: 1. Answers phone calls for laboratory information 2. Performs specimen accessioning. 3. Prepares grossing area for pathologist. 4. Prepares frozen specimens for pathologist. 5. Assists with FNA's in procedural areas. 6. Performs and prepares frozen tissue for slides and cassettes. 7. Provides lab specimen in various hospital procedural areas. 8. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree in Chemistry, Biology or related field
  • Experience in Laboratory/pathology.
  • Experience in Laboratory Information Systems (LIS).
