Provides coordination and support for the Pathology Departments, Pathologists, and Clinical Advisors through the appropriate use of technology and/or other tools. Assists with the day-to-day operations of the departments and provides excellent customer service. Exhibits initiative, ability to multi-task and knowledge to meet deadlines, and handle multiple priorities. Essential Functions Utilizes the appropriate technology and software applications to maximize efficiency and effectiveness of the pathology department including timekeeping editing, workload distribution, and maintenance of pathologist/department calendars. Communicates, collaborates, and acts as a liaison with patients, support staff, pathologists, members of the health care team and others in order to facilitate continuity and coordination of pathology services. Responsible for complex EMR/EHR transcribing, scanning and uploading to LIS with high level of accuracy. Performs/coordinates office duties such as sorting/distributing mail, copying, filing, faxing, completing forms, and ordering/maintaining equipment/supplies. Prepares material/records for clinical conferences with guidance from the Pathologist. Performs digitization of tissue slides and evaluates quality of images for clinical and demonstration purposes. Collects, compiles and prepares data for analysis and develops systems that facilitate tracking of data. Independently maintains accountability for completion of assigned projects. Prepares pathology material for reference laboratory testing according to laboratory protocol ensuring appropriateness of specimens, accurate test orders and test information. Creates invoices for various types of research, medicolegal, and industry focused work.
