About The Position

Licensing The Patent Technologist’s primary responsibility is to support technical matters in NXP’s third party cross licensing campaigns in the Technologist’s area(s) of expertise: By continuously monitoring NXP’s patent portfolio to identify patents that may be useful in licensing; By advising on areas of interest in the reverse engineering that NXP acquires; By creating evidence of infringement charts of NXP patents by third parties; By reviewing the evidence of infringement charts generated by other Technologists; By reviewing allegations of infringement brought against NXP by the third party for technical merit; By developing non-infringement and invalidity positions for allegations of infringement; By presenting, to the third party, the Technologist’s own evidence of infringement and rebutting the allegations of infringement and validity of the third parties’ positions; By assisting the Patent Sales manager on technical matters related to patents for potential sale. In addition to the Licensing matters described above Defensive Matters The Patent Technologist will support NXP’s litigation team in the Technologist’s area(s) of expertise: By reviewing allegations of infringement brought by third parties against NXP outside of cross licensing campaigns before and during litigation for technical merit; By developing non-infringement and invalidity positions for allegations of such infringement; By presenting, to the third party, the Technologist’s rebuttal to the allegations of infringement and validity. Patent Creation The Patent Technologist will support NXP’s patent creation program in the Technologist’s area(s) of expertise: By participating in 1 or more periodic patent committee meetings in which invention disclosure statements are reviewed for patentability; By participating in periodic annuity reviews in which issued patents are considered for renewal; By assisting the creation program on technical matters related to new portfolios or portfolios to be divested.

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing the evidence of infringement charts generated by other Technologists
  • Reviewing allegations of infringement brought against NXP by the third party for technical merit
  • Developing non-infringement and invalidity positions for allegations of infringement
  • Presenting, to the third party, the Technologist’s own evidence of infringement and rebutting the allegations of infringement and validity of the third parties’ positions
  • Assisting the Patent Sales manager on technical matters related to patents for potential sale
  • Reviewing allegations of infringement brought by third parties against NXP outside of cross licensing campaigns before and during litigation for technical merit
  • Developing non-infringement and invalidity positions for allegations of such infringement
  • Presenting, to the third party, the Technologist’s rebuttal to the allegations of infringement and validity
  • Participating in 1 or more periodic patent committee meetings in which invention disclosure statements are reviewed for patentability
  • Participating in periodic annuity reviews in which issued patents are considered for renewal
