About The Position
We are seeking a USPTO‑registered Patent Agent or Attorney with a strong technical foundation in semiconductor physics, materials science, electrical engineering, and/or computer science. The role focuses on IP portfolio management while offering the flexibility to contribute across a broad range of responsibilities as team and company priorities evolve. Requirements
- Active USPTO registration as a Patent Agent or Attorney.
- Experience in semiconductor physics, materials science, electrical engineering, and/or computer science.
- 3–10 years of experience in patent prosecution and drafting, either in a law firm or in‑house environment.
- Ability to work independently, set priorities, and deliver results within agreed timelines. Demonstrated capacity and enthusiasm for quickly mastering new technologies. Strong communication and teamwork abilities to interact effectively with inventors, engineers, and external counsel. Capability to assess technical and legal information to make informed IP strategy recommendations.
Responsibilities
- Technology Analysis & Patent Prosecution -Review invention disclosures, draft patent applications, and respond to office actions in partnership with inventors and external counsel.
- IP Portfolio Management -Oversee patents, trade secrets, and know‑how assets; generate technology‑landscape reports; and support invention‑harvest meetings.
- Invention Harvest & Documentation Engage with engineering teams, schedule technical discussions, and capture all emerging IP.
- Patent Review Committee Leadership Facilitate invention‑quality grading and provide guidance on disclosure, drafting, and prosecution strategies.
- Outside Counsel Coordination Evaluate external counsel deliverables for quality, timeliness, responsiveness, and cost-effectiveness.
- Freedom‑to‑Operate & Infringement Monitoring Conduct freedom‑to‑operate analyses and support infringement detection activities.
- Strategic Portfolio Decision‑Making Make data‑driven decisions on patent lifecycles to maximize portfolio value while controlling expenses.
