About The Position

The Glen Oaks Club, a premier club in Long Island, NY, is seeking a Full Time, Pastry Cook. The Glen Oaks Club is known for providing its members with an exceptional and personalized experience. Summary: Responsible for preparing a variety of baked goods, following recipes and ensuring consistency in quality and taste. You will collaborate with the kitchen team to meet production schedules and maintain a clean and organized workspace. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of baking techniques, ingredients, and equipment, along with a commitment to delivering exceptional products to our customers.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Pastry Cook or similar role in a bakery or pastry shop.
  • In-depth knowledge of baking techniques and the ability to follow recipes.
  • Familiarity with all professional kitchen equipment, including mixers, ovens, etc.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet production deadlines.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Certification from a culinary school or apprenticeship is a plus.
  • Ability to communicate and carry out verbal and written instructions in English.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Creativity and willingness to experiment with new recipes and techniques.
  • Ability to work early morning shifts, weekends, and holidays, as required.
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods, lift heavy objects, and work in a hot environment.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification from a culinary school or apprenticeship is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare a wide range of baked goods such as bread, cakes, pastries, and desserts according to recipes.
  • Monitor oven temperatures and bake time to ensure proper cooking.
  • Decorate baked goods, such as cakes and cookies.
  • Ensure all products are presented in an attractive manner.
  • Follow proper food handling procedures and sanitation guidelines.
  • Collaborate with the kitchen team to plan production schedules.
  • Maintain inventory of baking ingredients and supplies.
  • Clean and maintain baking equipment and work areas
  • Maintain accurate records of production and ingredient usage.
  • Collaborate with other team members to coordinate baking and production schedules.
  • Ensure that the bakery area is clean, organized, and free from hazards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Pastry Chef and Executive Chef
