About The Position

Join the culinary team at one of the world’s leading cultural institutions. As a Pastry Cook at The Met, you’ll work in a creative, dynamic environment that brings together art and hospitality. Our pastry kitchen, located in the museum’s main commissary kitchen, produces for five cafés, a full-service members’ lounge, and a wide range of catered events across The Met Fifth Avenue and The Met Cloisters. We are seeking a skilled, passionate Pastry Cook with a strong foundation in refined, high-volume pastry production. This role offers a multifaceted experience, from daily café offerings to refined plated desserts for events. You’ll work with a tight-knit team that values precision, creativity, and continuous growth.

Requirements

  • 2+ years in a high-volume bake shop or catering environment preferred.
  • Experience with pastry, dessert, and bread production.
  • Strong organization, communication, and multitasking skills.
  • Team-oriented, self-motivated, and committed to high standards.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

Nice To Haves

  • Culinary diploma in Pastry Arts or equivalent experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Produce a variety of pastries, including breakfast items, cookies, cakes, mousses, custards, and breads.
  • Decorate cakes and cupcakes with consistency and artistry.
  • Execute desserts for special events, from bite-size sweets to elegant plated desserts.
  • Accurately follow recipes provided by the Pastry Chef.
  • Work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen.
  • Collaborate with the pastry team to meet daily and event-driven production goals.
  • Maintain a clean, organized workspace and ensure proper handling of equipment and ingredients.
  • Maintain a flexible and positive attitude in response to the constant changes and needs of the kitchen.
