About The Position

Splendido is seeking a Pastry Chef to create high-quality, scratch-made desserts that delight residents, guests, and staff. We’re looking for someone with a true passion for baking, creativity in presentation, experience in a professional kitchen or pastry environment, strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation (HACCP), and the ability to work early mornings while managing production timelines. As a highly skilled and creative Pastry Chef or Baker, you bring proven experience in professional kitchen environments, with a strong command of baking techniques. You excel at following and developing recipes, managing time efficiently, and working independently while contributing to a collaborative team. Your artistic flair for dessert design and buffet displays sets you apart, and your excellent communication skills enhance kitchen operations. While a culinary degree or certification is preferred, your hands-on expertise and passion for pastry arts are what truly define your success. Weekends, holidays, and flexible scheduling for special events.

Requirements

  • 2+ years previous experience as a working baker/pastry chef.
  • Knowledge and understanding of both current and classic baking and pastry techniques.
  • Ability to create and follow standardized recipes

Responsibilities

  • Operate the main pastry station in the kitchen.
  • Prepare a variety of baked goods and desserts including pastries, cakes, cookies, pies, flatbreads, confections, and specialty ice creams/sorbets.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef to develop rotational dessert menus using scratch-made recipes and natural ingredients.
  • Ensure all desserts are visually appealing, portioned correctly, and stored safely.
  • Support catering and special events by preparing dessert items as needed.
  • Assist with inventory and purchasing of pastry ingredients and supplies.
  • Lead early morning bakery production and plan for daily pastry needs across all dining venues.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the pastry area and equipment, following HACCP and food safety standards.
  • Minimize waste and ensure proper labeling and storage of all food items.
  • Mentor junior kitchen staff and contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives.
