Job Summary: Visits patients, assesses their needs, interacts with families and other hospital staff for the good of the patient. Facilitates chapel services. Responds to all codes and crisis calls.

Requirements

  • High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience
  • One year of pastoral experience
  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
  • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication.
  • Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
  • Frequent keyboard use/data entry.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting and gripping.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
  • Rare climbing.

Responsibilities

  • Visits patients, families and staff.
  • Prepares daily census sheets for the department.
  • Prepares for chapel services.
  • Coordinates all sacramental/liturgical ministry within the hospital and documents what is necessary.
  • Refers patients, families, and staff to chaplains, priests and ministers, as needed.
  • Sends sympathy cards to families of deceased patients.
  • Participates in and plans for memorial services.
  • Responds to all codes.
  • Covers on call shifts as assigned.
  • Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
