About The Position

St. Anthony Catholic Church in Robstown, Texas, is hiring a Pastoral Assistant for the Sacristy. The Pastoral Assistant provides practical and liturgical support within the church, ensuring the sacristy is prepared for Mass and other liturgical celebrations. This role also includes assisting one of the priests who has a disability with transportation and other necessary supports to enable his ministry. Ministerial Character: The Diocesan Bishop is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the particular Church (“the Diocese”) entrusted to him. In a unique and visible way, he makes Christ's mission present and enduring as the Shepherd of the Christian Community. In order to fulfill his mission, the Diocesan Bishop employs suitable, chosen collaborators, who are clerics, religious, and lay people. He shares with them the apostolic mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them. Each position employed in the Diocese of Corpus Christi helps to extend the ministry of the Diocesan Bishop in particular ways as outlined in the job duties and responsibilities. Therefore, this position is closely connected to and assists the Diocesan Bishop in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the church. Requirements

  • Practicing Catholic with respect for the sacredness of the liturgy
  • Valid Texas driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Reliable, punctual and discreet
  • Compassionate and respectful toward individual with disabilities
  • Must submit to required pre-employment screening including criminal history background check, motor vehicle check record check (MVR), and drug screening
  • Complete certification in Safe Environment training provided by the Office of Safe Environment and Child and Family Resources
  • Requires adherence to all diocesan policies and procedures

Responsibilities

  • Prepare the altar, sacred vessels, vestments, and liturgical books before Mass; ensure bread, wine, water, and other necessary items are ready for the celebration; assist in setting up and clearing the sanctuary before and after services
  • Provide safe and reliable transportation for the priest to and from church services, parish events, and appointments; offer discreet, respectful assistance to the priest as needed before, during and after liturgical celebrations
  • Keep the sacristy organized, clean and stocked with necessary supplies; report any maintenance or supply needs to the parish office
  • Perform other duties as assigned
