About The Position

The Parts Manager leads a department of parts specialists and shipping/receiving clerks to support manufacturing, in shop service, and field service teams as well as over the counter sales. Ensures accurate parts inventories and pricing in accordance with corporate policies. Motivates the team to meet departmental goals and objectives.

Requirements

  • One to three years in automotive parts or similar industry and one or more years of managerial experience.
  • Demonstrated sales and customer service skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Mathematical skills to help manage the inventory, pricing, and estimates.
  • Problem-solving skills to deal with parts inventory issues.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Leadership skills to keep the parts department running smoothly

Responsibilities

  • Sets goals and objectives for the department and strives to meet them.
  • Hires, trains, motivates, counsels, and monitors the performance of department staff.
  • Ensures that all parts are properly tagged for assigned jobs.
  • Prepare quotes, as required.
  • Maintains a balanced inventory consistent with the requirements of production, service department, paint shop and the do-it-yourself public.
  • Facilitates resolution of aged and obsolete inventory with the Corporate Inventory and Material Supervisor.
  • Oversees kitting of parts for production jobs.
  • Oversees back parts counter in support of production and service jobs.
  • Ensures parts are properly stored and organized for maximum effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Supervises stock order procedures.
  • Analyzes sales, expenses, and inventory monthly to maintain profit goals.
  • Holds daily department stand up meetings.
  • Provides technical assistance to parts department employees and sales staff.
  • Directs shipping and receiving efforts to ensure timely processing.
  • Maintains customer notification process for counter sales on backorder.
  • Enforces guidelines for working with customers to ensure maximum customer satisfaction.
  • Handles customer complaints immediately and according to the company guidelines.
  • Assists in the collection of past-due accounts.
  • Enforces safety requirements, including but not limited to forklift training and operation, processing of SDS sheets on all products carried and OSHA Right-to-Know.
