About The Position

Assist Career and Innovation Administrators in creating and sustaining equitable postsecondary workforce readiness experiences for all students. Provide development, implementation and evaluation support for district-wide secondary school counseling by collaborating with school building, central office departments, school counselors, HR and other Career and College readiness program leaders. Support pathways of purpose for Career and College Exploration via ICAP and deliver ongoing professional development. Partner with Funded Projects on drafting, editing, implementing and monitoring of PWR specific grants, specifically School Counselor Corp Grant. Serve as point of contact for CDE liaison for PWR. Maintain district career and college readiness publication.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in School Counselor
  • Three (3) years of professional instructional experience or staff development experience
  • Colorado Department of Education (CDE) Special Services Provider (SSP) license
  • Colorado driver’s license
  • Experience leading conversations about race, racial equity, equitable learning environments, and culture in education
  • Experience leading adult PLCs, staff development, coaching and mentoring, etc.
  • Experience with implementing, planning and leading student voice groups
  • Basic knowledge of typical office equipment such as telephones, copiers, fax machines, email, etc.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of instructional shifts associated with the Colorado Academic State Standards and their connection to CCSD’s Culturally Responsive Universal Instructional Framework as well as Career and College Readiness standards
  • Experience with leading district and state-wide initiatives such as Graduation Requirements, ICAP and Seal of Biliteracy, Concurrent Enrollment/ASCENT, AVID, AP/IB programming and Youth Apprenticeships, CTE programming
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Career and College Readiness programs, Culturally Responsive Pedagogy and integration of universal instruction
  • Experience leading district-wide implementation of various platforms (Naviance, Edmentum, Salesforce)
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the implications of race, culture, socio-economic status, etc. in education and possess the ability to apply that understanding to create equitable learning environments

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee assigned content area. Lead the implementation of the district wide professional development plan and vision. Assist Career and Innovation, Performance Improvement Department Directors and Executive Directors of schools with planning, coordinating, and facilitating the daily operations of their assigned content area.
  • Coach and mentor school counselors. Assist Human Resources with School Counselor internship placement process and School Counselor Induction program and process.
  • Create, structure, and manage professional learning opportunities related to highly effective instruction in the blended learning and instructional technology arena for schools. Model and implement differentiated instruction with digital tools. Guide buildings in the development and implementation of adopted blended learning models to enhance student achievement by providing coaching and direction related to teaching and learning in blended environments. Support school counselors in assessing student learning using a variety of digital tools.
  • Ongoing coordination with district mental health and wellness leadership personnel on professional development and safety updates/needs.
  • Partner with career and college readiness leaders and school teams with planning site-based professional development. Utilize student feedback to design professional learning for educators to be responsive to the identified needs of students within the system.
  • Support district directors and coordinators with implementation of 504 and ALP plans.
  • Collaborate in the development and progress monitoring of annual district wide Career and College Readiness goals, including ICAP and “the Big 3”. Enlist collaborative support from School Counselor leaders, Instructional Coaches, Instructional Coordinators and site coordinators to align and address specific learning goals and district initiatives.
  • Collaboratively develop and manage annual counseling budget with direction from district leadership.
  • Maintain professional memberships with organizations that support career and college development (ASCA, CSCA, NACAC/RMACAC, CACTE, Colorado Council).
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
