About The Position

The Participant Advocate Supervisor provides their team members with direction and instructions in the performance of duties, training, monitoring, and evaluating work performance, and recommending changes to improve work performance. Participant Advocate Supervisors must meet individually at least monthly with their team members to discuss work performance and to develop and discuss progress, performance, and goals. The Participant Advocate Supervisor oversees the performance of the Participant Advocate team members’ standard tasks to ensure high-quality and timely work. The Participant Advocate Supervisor must have three (3) years of experience working in a residential facility with individuals who may have challenges in the following areas: homelessness, substance abuse, and mental health, or an acceptable combination of equivalent skills.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent with a combination of acceptable training and experience in human services, including but not limited to homelessness, substance abuse, and mental health.
  • Must be able to frequently stand, walk, sit, bend, and lift supplies that weigh between 25–50 lbs.
  • Must be able to visually observe, hear, understand, and interpret participant behavior.
  • Must be able to provide constructive feedback to the shift leader or designee in order to improve services within the facility.
  • Must be competent in computer use, including Microsoft applications and internet navigation.
  • A criminal background check and clearance will be required.
  • Must participate in all mandatory team meetings, department meetings, and training as required.
  • Must have flexibility with emergency requests, changes in work schedules, or assignments.
  • Must be well-organized, detail-oriented, task-driven, and able to work independently while setting daily priorities and maintaining a weekly and monthly schedule.
  • Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills and a willingness to assist whenever needed.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise participants in the following areas: conduct, personal hygiene, chores, and compliance with the facility’s rules and regulations.
  • Complete assigned data entry in the HMIS ClientTrack system accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Conduct facility checks before assuming responsibility and note any deficiencies during the shift.
  • Comply with privacy standards related to the collection, maintenance, and use of participant-protected personal information.
  • Provide a brief on-site orientation to participants.
  • Monitor participant activities, including but not limited to body searches with a metal detector upon entrance to the facility and searches of participants’ sleeping quarters and storage lockers/bags/containers.
  • Maintain an accurate participant census.
  • Complete quality written shift, incident, and weekly reports, as well as intakes, MISILs, medication logs, and other pertinent paperwork in a timely manner, checking for any necessary corrections.
  • Supervise the participant's evening sign-in log (the OSH MISIL form).
  • Supervise the dispensing of participants’ prescribed medications.
  • Monitor program participants and report any unusual occurrences to the Assistant Program Director, Program Director, and Client Services Case Management Supervisor.
  • Check and secure fire doors and escape exits; tour the building every 30–60 minutes during the shift and document as required.
  • Maintain order and cleanliness inside and outside the facility.
  • Confirm available bed count and bed count data.
  • Maintain a medication management system in accordance with required procedures, including discards.
  • Manage the storage and disposition of discharged participants’ belongings in accordance with required procedures.
  • Be aware of and convey participant communications to the Assistant Program Director or Program Director so that preventive measures can be taken to maintain the health, safety, and security of participants, staff, and the facility.
  • Share observations and recommendations regarding the facility, participants, and staff relations to identify and solve problems and ensure the staff functions as a unified team.
  • Inform the Assistant Program Director or Program Director of any unusual incidents and complete appropriate documentation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor or other management as required.
