Alafia River Animal Hospital, a CareVet partner, has an exciting opportunity for a part-time Associate Veterinarian. Your Role as an Associate Veterinarian: We’re seeking a veterinarian who is comfortable and confident performing surgery and possesses strong surgical skills. The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative, supportive environment and is committed to providing exceptional medical and surgical care to our patients. In this role, you’ll work closely with a skilled and compassionate support team to deliver high-quality care. A consistent part-time schedule is required, with availability on Thursdays and Fridays a must. If you are interested in a full-time opportunity, there is also the option to work one additional day per week at Edgewood Animal Clinic in Lakeland, Florida, our sister hospital, allowing you to expand your schedule while remaining part of our broader team. About the hospital: Located just outside of Tampa, Alafia River Animal Hospital is a purpose-built, modern facility designed to support excellence in veterinary care. Our team is committed to creating a warm, welcoming experience for both pets and their owners. The clinic itself sits on a beautiful 4.5-acre lot with donkeys and show cattle boarding on-site, creating a truly unique and welcoming atmosphere for both staff and clients. Requirements

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent degree required
Licensure in the state/s candidate will be working
Ability to show compassion to both pets and their owners
Outstanding dexterity in handling animals while performing precise tasks
Ability to react quickly and make decisions under pressure about the wellbeing of an animal
Strong fondness and understanding of animals
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of animal behavior
Ability to use medical technologies during diagnosis, research and surgery of animals

Responsibilities

Examine animals to assess their health and diagnose problems
Treat and dress wounds
Perform surgery on animals
Test for and vaccinate against diseases
Operate medical equipment, such as x-ray machines
Advise animal owners about general care, medical conditions, and treatments
Prescribe medication
Work closely in collaboration with team members to provide high quality care
