About The Position

The Part Time Teller I position at First United is responsible for providing exceptional customer service by conducting various banking transactions and assisting customers with their banking needs. This role involves promoting and selling bank products, handling deposits and withdrawals, and ensuring compliance with banking regulations. The teller will also be involved in balancing cash drawers and maintaining accurate transaction records.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Cash handling, sales, or customer service experience preferred.
  • Prior teller experience preferred.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Good problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and under pressure.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers in various forms.

Responsibilities

  • Explains, promotes, and sells products and services such as traveler's checks, savings bonds, money orders, and cashier's checks.
  • Cross-sells additional bank products and directs customers to representatives for account openings or investment needs.
  • Receives checking and savings deposits, verifies cash and endorsements, and issues receipts for deposits.
  • Identifies counterfeit currency and examines checks for proper funds availability based on regulations.
  • Cashes checks and processes savings withdrawals after verifying signatures and customer balances.
  • Enters transactions into the computer and issues computer-generated receipts.
  • Answers basic customer inquiries regarding service charges and account histories while complying with regulations and privacy policies.
  • Accepts loan payments, verifies payment amounts, and issues receipts.
  • Buys and sells currency from the vault, ensuring teller drawer cash limits are not exceeded.
  • Receives FICA payments and verifies deposit coupons are properly completed.
  • Follows procedures for removing accounts from dormancy and places holds on accounts for uncollected funds when necessary.
  • Balances drawer daily, including periodic batching of cashed checks and counting cash in ATMs and night depositories.
  • Counts and rolls loose coins and enters required information into reports.
  • Attends weekly sales meetings and monthly community bank meetings.
  • Handles customer complaints and escalates issues to supervisors as needed.
  • Recommends possible methods to improve department operations.
  • Completes all required compliance exams on a yearly basis.
