About The Position

Trinity School, a co-educational, K-12 institution located on Manhattan’s Upper West Side, seeks a Middle School Teacher of Visual Arts, Grades 5-8 (.8 time) beginning September 1, 2026. The candidate will hold a Master’s degree in Visual Art (MFA) and be able to demonstrate and maintain a robust practice as a working professional artist in their own right. The successful hire will teach traditional and contemporary artistic methods and concepts, and demonstrate consistent continuing self-education in the greater Art World in order to effectively support a high level of teaching and learning of the School’s students. Trinity School seeks a teacher who will work closely and collaboratively with peers in the Visual Arts Department and with colleagues in other disciplines and divisions. Cultivating enthusiastic student engagement and confidence with creative processes will live at the center of all initiatives. Organizing and displaying student work within the School in an inclusive and timely fashion is essential. Opportunities for utilizing the tremendous art resources in New York City (museums, galleries, etc.) should be a high priority for candidates. The Visual Arts Department seeks a colleague who will guide Middle School Visual Arts students’ skill development in the studio, including the studies of still-life, portraiture, landscape and the figure using drawing, painting, and mixed-media. Professional responsibilities include contributing to the life of the School outside of the classroom, engaging in professional development opportunities, communicating with parents, fulfilling supervisory duties, and participating in committee work.
