About The Position

As the Part-Time Disability Student Support (DSS) Student Affairs Specialist, you provide administrative support to the department, schedule student appointments, and provide student-centered support and outreach. SELECTION PROCESS: Position will remain open until filled. Please note: You need to be a Colorado resident on your first day of employment. Also, Front Range Community College is an E-Verify employer. The selection process for the Part-Time Disability Student Support (DSS) Student Affairs Specialist, will be conducted through a competitive, merit-based evaluation of all qualified applicants. Part-time hours and schedule are somewhat variable per semester and cannot exceed 28 hours per week. SALARY: $19.15 part-time hourly BENEFITS:Variable hour employees will have their hours measured on an annual basis to determine eligibility to enroll in medical health insurance only for the following benefit period. Requirements

  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Effective in-person and written communication.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs and Adobe Acrobat Suite.
  • Background working with individuals with disabilities.
  • Associate's degree or 2 years of experience in customer services, administrative duties, or related field

Responsibilities

  • Assist with student outreach and call/Navigate campaigns.
  • Schedules DSS student appointments.
  • Responds directly to student inquires
  • Monitors DSS email and answers phone calls.
  • Processes accommodation letter requests
  • Monitors web-based (Formstack) database for accommodation letter requests
  • Manages accommodation letter request spreadsheet
  • Drafts and sends accommodation letters with DSS director and admin assistant oversight
  • Maintain DSS electronic files and update DSS databases as requested.
  • Provides support and guidance to student workers as needed.
  • Supports DSS staff with processing new student intake meetings.
  • Support DSS Director and administrative assistant with other administrative tasks, as assigned.
  • Acts as a first point of contact for students visiting DSS in person (at WC)
  • Talks to students, assesses needs for accommodations, makes initial decisions as to what is needed and where to refer next.
  • Acts as a first point of contact for student and faculty issues:
  • Assesses information and makes decisions on how to resolve conflict and/or refer it.
  • Provides relevant information to DSS Directors and administrative assistant in a timely fashion.
  • Maintain knowledge of campus and community resources and make appropriate referrals.
  • Supports department with events and programming as needed.
