Requirements

  • 5+ years of payroll experience at an independent or senior level.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, HR, or related field, or equivalent experience; CPP, PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification preferred or willingness to pursue.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and cloud-based payroll/HR platforms; experience with Workday or ADP is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with the ability to work effectively with a diverse client base.
  • Excellent attention to detail, adaptability, and ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

  • Comfortable working part-time (15–20 hours/week) with flexibility to support client needs across the week.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage regular payroll processing activities for assigned clients, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert, coaching and training team members on payroll best practices.
  • Act as the main point of contact for payroll-related inquiries, audits, benefits data, and compliance matters.
  • Assist with employee benefits administration, payroll setup, and reporting as needed.
  • Manage payroll implementations, transitions, and specialized client projects.
  • Build and run custom payroll reports and conduct payroll audits to maintain data integrity.
  • Collaborate with multiple Payroll and HR technology platforms to optimize client service delivery.
  • Ensure adherence to payroll compliance requirements, including year-end tasks and state-specific regulations.
