About The Position

The Part-time Property Maintenance worker operates under the general supervision of the Property Manager. This position involves utilizing skills in carpentry, plumbing, landscaping, and other areas to maintain the organization's grounds. Additionally, the Part-time Property Maintenance worker will assist with the setup and breakdown of all events.

Requirements

  • 1–3 years of experience in carpentry, landscaping, maintenance, or a general handyperson role preferred; entry-level candidates with relevant skills or willingness to learn are encouraged to apply.
  • Basic knowledge of hand and power tools; ability to safely operate equipment with training or prior experience.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible part-time schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Good organizational and multitasking abilities with the capacity to manage assigned tasks and timelines effectively.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to safely use ladders and work at heights when performing duties such as gutter cleaning, exterior maintenance, lighting installation, and minor repairs.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation; ability to travel between locations within Suffolk County as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in maintaining organizational grounds and facilities across four properties, including two outdoor camp properties with wooded terrain, trails, and natural areas. Responsibilities include removing trash and debris, restocking supplies, assisting with deliveries, and transporting materials, equipment, and tools as needed during scheduled shifts.
  • Performs routine landscaping duties such as mowing, weed whacking, raking, mulching, planting, and basic pruning.
  • Supports seasonal tasks such as snow removal, including shoveling and clearing walkways, as needed.
  • Supports general maintenance and improvement projects, including painting, basic plumbing and electrical repairs, carpentry assistance, gutter cleaning, and exterior building upkeep. Tasks may require the safe use of ladders and basic hand and power tools.
  • Assists with event setup and breakdown, including lifting, carrying, and arranging tables, chairs, tents, and equipment for organizational events and programs such as camp activities and special events.
  • Helps load, unload, and transport equipment, tools, furniture, and supplies to support maintenance activities and program operations.
  • Performs work assignments at designated properties and may travel between locations as needed during scheduled shifts.
  • Maintains tools, vehicles, and equipment by cleaning, organizing, and performing basic checks to ensure they remain in safe working conditions.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned, based on part-time schedule and organizational needs.
