Part Time Park Worker
About The Position
The Johnson County Park and Recreation District is hiring for Part Time Park Workers within the Central Region that includes Shawnee Mission Park and the Mill Creek Streamway Trail System. This an entry level position that supports the Park Operations staff in a wide variety of daily operations related to the upkeep and maintenance of park grounds, playgrounds, trails, buildings, equipment, and natural areas within our 10,000 acres of Johnson County’s parks system. Responsibilities include mowing, trimming, cleaning park facilities, landscape planting and maintenance, sanitation collection and disposal, etc. May operate equipment and trucks as trained, assigned, and licensed. The position provides an opportunity to interact with and learn alongside skilled staff in irrigation, horticulture, construction, forestry, natural resource management and other careers in unique green industry fields and skilled trades work. This seasonal position is available from March – November but is also available for students seeking a summer work opportunity, as well as other times available out of school. Total hours for this position will be less than 1500. Normal Work Hours: 7:00am -3:30pm M-F, some weekends and holidays required. Starting Hourly Wage: $15.00/hr. Requirements
- Minimum age 16 years and older.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and have a good driving record verified through a background check.
