About The Position

Learning does not stop in the classroom, and as a Part-Time Operations Assistant, you play a vital role in ensuring our students and families are supported in every aspect of the school experience. In this role, you will ride with special education students during morning and/or afternoon bus routes to ensure their safety and well-being, provide attentive supervision and support, and model care and professionalism with students and families. You will also support the daily operations of the school through welcoming front office service, clerical support, and organizing essential systems. Additionally, you will engage families through attendance tracking, outreach, recruitment events, and building strong relationships that reflect our commitment to listening to and learning from our community. Requirements

  • Have at least a High School Diploma or GED
  • 1-2 years of experience
  • Pass a criminal background check

Responsibilities

  • Ride the school bus with special education students during morning and/or afternoon routes, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Assist students with boarding, seating, and exiting the bus safely.
  • Provide attentive supervision and support to meet the unique physical, behavioral, and emotional needs of students while in transit.
  • Communicate promptly with transportation staff and school personnel regarding student needs, concerns, or incidents.
  • Model patience, care, and professionalism in all interactions with students and families during pickup and drop-off.
  • Maintain accurate monitoring and attendance logs for students who ride the bus.
  • Greet and assist visitors, staff, and families in a welcoming and professional manner.
  • Answer phones, respond to inquiries, and direct calls or guests to the appropriate staff member.
  • Manage and organize front office systems, including mail distribution, student records, and supply requests.
  • Provide general clerical support such as filing, data entry, and preparing communications.
  • Support student attendance by tracking daily attendance data and assisting with follow-up communication to families.
  • Assist with family engagement activities, including phone calls, event preparation, and communication in English and Spanish (if bilingual).
  • Participate in student recruitment efforts such as preparing materials, coordinating events, and supporting family outreach.
  • Build strong, positive relationships with families to foster trust and encourage engagement with the school community.
  • Meet professional standards in accordance with the Code of Ethics and Standard Practices for Texas Educators and Compass Rose Employee handbook/policies. (e.g., attendance, professional appearance, and behaviors, timeliness to work, meeting deadlines, uses discretion with confidential information, using good judgment in performing responsibilities)
  • Set short- and long-term professional goals based on self-assessment, reflection, and supervisor feedback.
  • Engage in professional learning communities and meetings
  • Communicate with parents/guardians regularly regarding and not limited to academics, attendance, social-emotional well-being, etc.
  • Exemplify the mission, vision, and goals of the school to students, colleagues, parents, and families.
  • Abide by COVID policies in place at the time of employment
  • Maintain electronic grade books and timely submission of grades
  • Provide after-school or Saturday tutoring as well as student recruitment events
  • Attend campus and network professional development
  • participate actively in a minimum number of student recruitment events annually (as determined and network and school guidance).
  • Hold and attend parent-Part Time Teacher meetings and report-card pick-up.
