About The Position

Chamberlain College of Nursing seeks Part-Time Nursing Faculty interested in teaching with our BSN Nursing program. You will be teaching students in the role of facilitator, role model, coach and advisor. Incorporating Chamberlain Care philosophy to educate and embolden diverse nursing professionals in a culture where students and colleagues thrive and cultivate extraordinary nursing graduates. Chamberlain University courses follow an 8-week session plan: there are six 8-week sessions each calendar year (Jan-Feb, Mar-Apr, May-Jun, Jul-Aug, Sep-Oct, & Nov-Dec). Required Teaching Commitment: Live Simulation Lab session with students, varied days & times (virtual) Professors will be available via email, online conferencing or telephone, to provide support and respond to student's enquiries in a timely manner We are presently accepting applications from experienced faculty with experience teaching in the following areas of course specialization: Adult Health Medical-Surgical Nursing: Students will be demonstrating nursing skills and procedures in a virtual simulation. The focus of this course is on the needs of adult patients and their families in relation to health promotion and management of conditions that require acute and chronic care. The nursing process is used in the discussion of health alterations affecting selected life processes. Students continue their professional skill development as members of the health team. Requirements

  • Master's degree in nursing (MSN) or higher is required
  • Unencumbered RN license in a compact state
  • Illinois RN licensure will be required to teach all courses
  • 2+ years' experience teaching didactic nursing courses for a college or university is required
  • Faculty must have requisite subject matter expertise and outstanding communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Teaching experience with an online learning platform such as Canvas is preferred
  • Additional requirements driven by state licensing or accreditation considerations may apply.

Responsibilities

  • Course Preparation:
  • Provide students with a Chamberlain University approved syllabus that follows the established template and includes terminal course objectives.
  • Organize, prepare, and regularly revise and update all course materials.
  • Assumes responsibility for all autonomous aspects of individual teaching loads.
  • Technological Integration:
  • Use appropriate technological options for online technologies and course-related software, including websites, e-mail, and online discussions for preparing the course and making it accessible to students.
  • Communication:
  • Model effective oral and written communications that engage students, provide clarity, and improve student learning.
  • Is available for remediation of students as required or needed.
  • Course Management:
  • Set clear expectations for the course by publishing course terminal objectives, assignment/examinations dates, and weight distribution of various evaluation categories.
  • Ensure that the content and level of material included on exams correspond to the course terminal objectives.
  • Demonstrate consistency and fairness in the preparation and grading of exams and provide timely feedback to students.
  • Complete other duties as assigned and comply with all policies and standards.
