About The Position
Part Time Nanny required for a Brooklyn family with one daughter (age 7), starting ASAP. Specific duties to be negotiated with the family, but in general, you will be responsible for providing engaging + loving care, age appropriate learning and activities and child related cooking/tidying/cleaning for their daughter. The family is looking for someone warm, dedicated and energetic who is comfortable creating clear, fair guidelines with a bright and articulate 7 yr old. Their daughter is independent and strong willed and the family is looking for a dynamic, professional nanny to help guide and support their family long term. Candidates experienced with behaviour management + self regulation techniques and who truly want to make a positive impact are encouraged to apply! Someone who "understands the why" and who will provide consistent positive reinforcement will be the right match for this family. A nanny who encourages creativity and passions, is self aware and curious about the world as well as a clear + efficient communicator is desired. This is a fast-paced and demanding role with high expectations; having a team oriented mindset with the parents while showing good judgement + common sense is essential. To be successful, you will need to be detail oriented, resilient and want to partner with parents who value mutual respect and boundaries. The ideal candidate is a proactive individual who has energy for busy afternoons, is engaged during activities and an overall role model for their daughter. Both parents work long hours and travel frequently - candidates who can adapt to the evolving needs of their busy home are essential, including flexibility with overall schedule. Flexibility is essential to cover earlier days, possible overnights as needed. Candidates who enjoy cooking for children and are comfortable + creative in the kitchen are crucial to this role!
Requirements
- A minimum of 3 years experience as a nanny, 5-10 years preferred in NYC
- A well-suited demeanor for working with school age children
- Exceptional childcare references that attest to strong communication skills, reliability, punctuality, maturity and high emotional intelligence
- Education or equivalent knowledge of ages and stages of child growth and development
- Proven experience with behaviour management techniques
- Readiness to help with light housekeeping and all tasks related to childcare (organizing, laundry, child related errands, etc.)
- Confident in the kitchen and enjoys preparing meals for children on a daily basis
- Flexibility and interest in early/late hours as needed, ad hoc weekend support and overnight care in Brooklyn, domestic and/or international travel (with advance notice)
- Demonstrates professionalism and discretion at all times, reflecting the high standards and values prioritized by the family
- Comfortable with pets - family has a calm, well trained fox labrador and daily walks are expected
