About The Position

Lake Forest Community High School is seeking a World Language - Latin Teacher (0.6 FTE) Description: Lake Forest High School has a part-time opening for a 0.6 Latin teacher for the 2026-27 school year. The World Language Department is seeking a teacher who establishes a strong culture of learning and engages students in challenging content through well-designed learning tasks and activities. This role demands a professional who not only has an in-depth understanding of the subject matter, but also a high level of instructional skill and a commitment to every student's academic growth and achievement.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's Degree
  • Illinois Professional Educator License (commonly referred to as a teaching license or teaching certificate) with a Latin endorsement
  • ESL endorsement valued
  • Strong knowledge of Latin and the ability to differentiate instruction to meet the varied needs and interests of students.
  • Skill in fostering a classroom environment in which the lives and needs of all students are validated, recognized, and appreciated.
  • Experience in mentoring students to develop literacies and a sense of community within the classroom.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development and a mindset geared towards the ongoing improvement of teaching practices and outcomes for students.

Responsibilities

  • Engage students at a variety of levels while building literacy skills.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with students, fostering an environment conducive to learning and growth.
  • Demonstrate exceptional content knowledge in Latin, with the ability to adapt instruction to suit a diverse range of student backgrounds and interests.
  • Employ effective communication and collaboration skills when interacting with students, faculty, and parents, ensuring a cohesive educational experience.
  • Facilitate a classroom environment that encourages student collaboration and discourse, enhancing the learning experience for all.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop and refine course learning objectives, common assessments, and curricula.
  • Participate in a team-based approach to promote continuous enhancement of instructional practices.
