Role Definition: As a Part-Time Intern – Manufacturing Supply Chain Order-to-Delivery at Caterpillar’s Pontiac facility, you will be working with a team of engineering, quality, maintenance, and production professionals supporting some of Caterpillar’s world class Fuel System. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to a team making improvements in safety, quality, velocity and cost while you gain valuable experience and grow your skills and knowledge.

Requirements

  • Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
  • Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.
  • Manufacturing Processes: Basic understanding of existing product manufacturing methods, technologies, and processes.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and blueprint reading.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Exposure to data analysis or reporting tools.
  • Must be enrolled full-time at a 2-year or 4-year college/university.
  • Minimum cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.0/4.0 scale (no rounding) at current institution.
  • Must be within a commutable distance to the Pontiac, IL facility.
  • Expected graduation date of 2027 and beyond.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in identifying and implementing enhancements and modifications to processes, equipment, or technologies.
  • Provide support on planning, development, operation, and maintenance of equipment, processes, or facilities.
  • Utilize Microsoft Excel and Minitab Statistical Software to analyze data.
  • Utilize Microsoft Word update work instructions and Microsoft Power Point to develop presentations.
  • Populate machine results documentation into Sharepoint system.
  • Work with operations and engineering to implement continuous improvement projects using 6-Sigma tools.
  • Work with operations and manufacturing engineering for new equipment implementation.
  • Work with machine original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and Pontiac tool design on updating machine documentation.
  • Apply data analytics skills to support engineering and operations.
