About The Position

Part-Time Industrial Skills Instructor Responsible for instructing adult participants in short-term training programs and should have experience in a range of industrial roles, which could include industrial maintenance, electric, PLCs, electric motor controls, blueprint reading, shop math, measurement, safety, mechanical fabrication and pneumatics, welding, or machine knowledge/repair. Primary Duties: Instruction: Deliver engaging, hands-on instruction to workforce students in industrial skills and the use of relevant tools/equipment Manage online learning activities and maintain student attendance records. Provide career mentorship to provide students with in-demand skills in industry. Curriculum Development: Collaborate with faculty and staff to ensure curriculum aligns with current industry standards, career paths, and emerging technologies/techniques. Develop lesson plans and participate in evaluation and continuous improvement initiatives. Identify required supplies/materials/equipment for classes, and work with staff to procure them. Course Structure: Daytime career training classes are conducted Monday-Thursday and some Fridays for approximately 10 weeks Classes will be theory, online, and hands-on in a lab/classroom setting.

Requirements

  • An associate or bachelor’s degree in a relevant field from an accredited college or university is required.
  • 5-10 years in industrial maintenance or another industrial field, which could include electrical, welding, automation, mechanical, machining, and/or experience in manufacturing education.
  • Experience in one or more of the following: electric, industrial maintenance (electro/mechanical), metalwork, machining, blueprint reading, welding, or building trades.
  • Ability to mentor students on employability skills such as teamwork, professional work behaviors, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of students and staff and to effectively coach individuals with a range of industry experience.
  • Basic computer skills and working knowledge of MS Office.

Nice To Haves

  • Adult teaching experience preferred; familiarity with facilities maintenance and/or curriculum development a plus.
