About The Position

EMS Skills Instructor: Supports the primary instructor by presenting organized and structured skills sessions that expand the student’s classroom knowledge into hands-on skills practice and mastery of clinical procedures related to the Emergency Medical Technician Marketable Skills Award. This is a part-time position working 19 hours or less per week at an hourly rate of $30.00 This job description is not a complete statement of all duties and responsibilities comprising the position.

Requirements

• Two year's work experience at equal or higher level for which instruction/testing is being administered.
• EMS certification or license for State of Texas at equal or higher level for which instruction/testing is assigned.
• Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of instruction, testing, and evaluation of students.
• Knowledge of current national curricula, national accreditation, national registry, and requirements for state certification of licensure.
• The work requires the ability to physically demonstrate required emergency medicine skills and techniques.
• This position requires three professional references.
• This position is considered a security sensitive position and will require a criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Team teaches during skills exercises and supervises student activity for safety and compliance.
• Assists primary instructor by instructing small groups of students in various situations involving performance skills.
• Assists primary instructor with all facets of skills sessions and lab management including preparation and set-up of labs prior to class and clean up after class.
• Ensures equipment used for classes is in operable condition.
• Uses National Registry skill sheets to evaluate students.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Department Chair.
