Part-Time Community Mental Health Worker Company Overview: At Residential Transitions, Inc. Our services support people living independently in the community, in their own homes, as well as in our residential settings. Position Overview: Community Mental Health Workers provide our clients with individualized home support (IHS) with training . This community based service is focused on teaching and training our clients on independent living skills and community oriented skills, through goal based plans, so that they may live fulfilling lives. Our clients include those with a severe mental illness (SMI) health diagnosis, traumatic brain injury (TBI), or developmental disability. This role is caseload based, allowing for employees to build out a schedule that meets client need and their own work life balance. T his role reports to the Program Manager and has no direct reports.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in some or all of the following areas: proven time management or self organization skills, relevant soft skills, relevant SMI/TBI work experience, and or relevant education.
  • Ability to pass a Department of Human Services background check.
  • Ability to pass the BCA Criminal Background Check and the Sexual Exploitation of Patients by Psychotherapist screen required by DHS.
  • Ability to pass screening required by Federal Human Services office of the Inspector General
  • Ability to organize and work independently.
  • Willingness to travel within the Metro Area, for applicable mileage reimbursements, with a current driver’s license, clean record, and personal vehicle with insurance; and able to transport clients in that vehicle.
  • Posses a person-centered approach, consistent with the Philosophical approach of the individual program and RTI.
  • Ability to work with culturally diverse populations.
  • Other, as needed, as company and role grows or evolves.
  • Employees in this role must be able to: Walk, stand, sit, bend, climb stairs, and perform crisis prevention/intervention techniques Use hands for writing, typing, and data entry Lift up to 40 lbs. and occasionally exert physical effort during duties Maintain vision and hearing necessary for reading charts, operating office equipment, using a computer, and driving a vehicle

Responsibilities

  • Support individuals in independent living skills through 1:1 service.
  • Support individuals in mental health management through identifying coping skills, practicing coping skills, and alternative methods.
  • Teach and model community integration skills such as: self-managing medications, managing personal finances, appropriate interpersonal interactions, managing the public transportation system, completing the necessary tasks to maintain a home, and accessing community resources.
  • Interacts informally with individuals to facilitate socialization and appropriate behavior.
  • Participates in scheduled and spontaneous recreational events.
  • Teaches healthy living habits and develops the accompanying skills.
