About The Position

The School of Nursing is looking to hire clinical and lab faculty for TBD courses. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: The primary responsibility of a clinical or laboratory adjunct instructor is to work in collaboration with the assigned Course Coordinator to provide education and supervision of students in the clinical and/or laboratory setting. Essential Functions: Review and implement student learning objectives, course syllabus, evaluation and grading criteria. Instruct, supervise, and evaluate students' performance in the assigned clinical or laboratory setting. Demonstrate ability to deal effectively with sensitive student situations; communicate and negotiate resolutions with faculty, students and clinical partners regarding problems in the clinical site. Relates theory content to clinical practice. Exemplifies professional behavior. Facilitate problem solving and critical thinking/reasoning skills development in the student. Adhere to UMaine and/or agency policies and procedures through agency orientation and ongoing in-services. Ensure that students adhere to standards, policies, and regulations of the School of Nursing and or clinical agency. Communicate with students and course coordinator regarding student progress. Promote cooperation and communication with students, faculty and other team members. Consult with course coordinator regarding significant student issues. Perform students' midterm and final evaluation. Submit written evaluation to coordinator after review with the students. Report to the course coordinator in the event of an illness, and emergency and/or anticipated absence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • Current RN license in the State of Maine
  • Experience in relevant patient care settings.
  • Knowledge of the subject matter in the area of expertise
