At NorthWest Arkansas Community College (NWACC), part-time faculty are regarded as full-time professionals who happen to teach part-time. Upon accepting an associate or nursing faculty position, individuals commit to upholding the responsibilities of a professional educator. The primary duty is the instruction of assigned classes, labs, or clinicals, and this responsibility takes precedence over all others. Faculty members are expected to be present, punctual, and well-prepared for every class, lab, or clinical session.In addition to teaching, faculty may be assigned other responsibilities by their supervisor, the Nursing Director, Division Dean, or Associate Vice President for Workforce, and must adhere to the Faculty Handbook. All faculty are expected to embody the community college philosophy and remain dedicated to NWACC’s mission and goals, maintaining a professional role and never using their position for personal or non-professional purposes.

Requirements

  • Licensed in Arkansas or eligible for licensure
  • Two years clinical experience
  • Clinical teaching experience
  • Clear criminal background
  • Clear 10 panel urine drug screen
  • Current Immunizations
  • Current TB/CPR documentation
  • Strong communication, organization, interpersonal, problem-solving, and counseling skills
  • Knowledge of legislative, regulatory, legal and practice issues affecting clinical education, students, and the profession
  • Current knowledge of contemporary practice
  • Computer skills to include Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook ©, Blackboard or similar Distance Learning Platform

Responsibilities

  • Maintain clinical and educational competencies relevant to instructional areas
  • Ensure safe faculty-to-student ratios in clinical settings (max 1:8 acute, 1:10 non-acute)
  • Support and implement the Nursing Program’s philosophy, curriculum, and goals
  • Plan, coordinate, and sustain effective clinical learning environments
  • Foster critical thinking and meaningful learning experiences
  • Evaluate student performance using approved methods (with MSN faculty involvement)
  • Participate in curriculum development, faculty meetings, and committees
  • Advise and support nursing students while upholding high standards of practice
  • Comply with professional dress code and perform additional duties as assigned
