About The Position

Vermont State University is looking for a new part-time faculty member to be part of the Career Technical Teacher Education Program (CTTEP). This dynamic program prepares teachers at Vermont's 17 technical high schools across the state to be recommended for their Level I license. This position is looking for a part-time faculty member to instruct two courses that constitute the final two courses of year one of the program: Teaching Methods 3 and 4. This position is for teaching a hybrid course, with a combination of class meetings done in person and online. Methods 3 takes place in the Spring semester and Methods 4 in mid-June. This position requires the instructor to teach both Spring EDU3051, Teaching Methods 3 and Summer EDU3052, Teaching Methods 4. Teaching Methods 3/EDU3051 course in the four-part series that new teachers in the Career & Tech Teacher Preparation path-to-licensure Program (CTTEP) must take during their first year as CTE teachers. Teaching Methods III expands on content learned in Teaching Methods I & II. The instructor will be expected to assist students in exploring additional must-know topics for CTE teachers, including the exploration of implicit bias, diversity & inclusion in CTE, effective use of advisory boards, and project-based learning. Through independent reading and thoughtful reflection, students explore instructional strategies, classroom management, student engagement, and assessment. The instructor will continue with the cohort by leading them through the Summer EDU3052 course, which is the final teaching methods course in the series and takes place in June. In Teaching Methods IV, new teachers apply their year-long learning to create high-quality curriculum documents for the upcoming school year. Teaching Methods IV is an intensive, "boot camp" style course designed to prepare industry professionals for year two of teaching, as well as opportunities to document their learning, growth, and professional reflections in their licensing portfolio. This course is intended to grow the competence, self-efficacy, and career commitment of new CTE teachers entering their professions.
