About The Position

Germanna Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education in the Virginia Community College System. As a comprehensive community college, Germanna provides quality, accessible, and affordable educational opportunities for the residents of the City of Fredericksburg and the counties of Caroline, Culpeper, King George, Madison, Orange, Spotsylvania and Stafford. Germanna Community College is seeking a dedicated Part-Time Enrollment Support Specialist to guide prospective, new, and continuing students through admissions, onboarding, registration, and related enrollment processes. The role operates in a fast-paced environment and requires timely communication, efficient barrier removal, and excellent customer service. The ideal candidate will deliver high-quality, student-centered service, both in-person and virtually, to ensure seamless onboarding and accurate processing of student documentation. Collaboration with academic departments and student services is essential to supporting prospective, new, and continuing students. This position will operate out of the Fredericksburg Area Campus but may require occasional travel between campuses and flexibility to work evenings and weekends.

Requirements

  • Experience in Enrollment Services, an Admissions Office, or a related student-support role.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data management.
  • Experience using Student Information Systems (PeopleSoft, Banner, Navigate, or similar).
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated customer service experience with the ability to handle stressful situations professionally.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual (Spanish preferred).
  • Knowledge of EAB Navigate, CRM systems, and willingness to learn AI tools.
  • Experience working with students in a higher education setting.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and comfort engaging with diverse student and community populations.
  • Knowledge of Germanna Community College's academic and workforce programs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide coverage for Welcome Center kiosks and virtual services platforms. Act as the first point of contact for both students and the community.
  • Assist students with systems access, application completion, admissions steps, onboarding, course registration, and financial aid basics.
  • Provide referrals to Admissions, Advising, and Financial Aid departments and other support services.
  • Carry out Enrollment Lab responsibilities, including assisting with applications, addressing enrollment issues, and managing timely responses to voicemail and email.
  • Assist with Student Help Desk inquiries related to online services, access, and technology.
  • Complete Admissions and Records tasks including documentation intake, record updates, program changes, FERPA releases, and registration requests using SIS and Perceptive Content.
  • Maintain accurate logs of student and prospect interactions.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development, including training on Germanna's Culture of Care and advising tools, to enhance knowledge, service quality, and student support.
