About The Position

Terms of Employment: Part time on 194 or 196 days, depending on experience within WCSD. Description of FTE: This position is 0.5 FTE. The teacher will most likely teach PE for half of each school day, sometimes alone and sometimes in partnership with the school's full-time PE teacher. Subsitute teaching opportunities will be available in the same building and across the district on a very regular basis, should the part-time PE teacher be interested. Position Criteria Valid State of Iowa teaching license: required K-8 Physical Education: required Performance Criteria: Create and maintain healthy relationships with students. Demonstrate flexibility, high levels of motivation and enthusiasm when working with elementary age learners. Demonstrate an understanding of the elements of a Professional Learning Community (PLC) and by able to apply that understanding to a team situation. Understand multiple teaching methods: co-teaching, collaborating, whole/small group and individualized instruction. Commit to meeting the needs of diverse learners. Commit to ongoing professional growth and development as described in the Iowa Professional Development Standards and support of the Iowa Teaching Standards as the foundation from which to build that ongoing growth plan. Demonstrate an understanding of and ability to implement the MTSS process. Utilize developmentally appropriate assessments for learning. Articulate oral and written communications. Maintain accurate standards based grades and provide measurable and adequate feedback on student work.

Requirements

  • Valid State of Iowa teaching license
  • K-8 Physical Education
